Marvin S. Finley is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. He received his formal education from Tuskegee University, Alabama, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Business. After undergrad, he moved west to Southern California and received a master’s degree in Business Administration from City University (Los Angeles).
In 1971 he began his career at Fortune 500 companies, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and later, International Business Machines (IBM) and. He moved on to Safeco Title Company as a Sr. Marketing Account Executive- Commercial Account, and it was at that point in his career, he took a leap of faith, and segued into entrepreneurship and civic engagement. In 1982, he was named Chairman of the Board of the Unite Negro College Fund of Southern California. An avid golfer, who was inducted into the Black Golfer’s Hall of Fame in 2003, he founded and served as President of the Young Golfers of America Association (YGAA) from 1992 to 2018 where their organization facilitated more than one-hundred college scholarships for undeserved youth. Under his esteemed leadership, along with YGAA, both were recognized and awarded for their impact and dedication to enhancing the lives of youth through the sport of golf. In 1995, he established and is currently President of Profitable Secured Investment, a real estate investment firm that has purchased and sold more than 100 properties.
In 2004, Mr. Finley founded The International Progressive Professionals where he served as President and hosted more than fifty international government and business leaders, as well as created an educational and cultural exchange program for youth to experience international countries. In 2019, he became the Chief Development Officer of H.C. Finley Estate, a family driven organization with a goal of setting up generational wealth for its heirs. While going through the tedious process, he recognized the need to educate and empower more families going through the same process. Consequently, in 2022 he founded, and is President of, African American Heir Association. He has over 30 years of experience in the field of real estate, and civic engagement; and today, he is still a passionate community leader and philanthropist whose ultimate goal is to uplift every young person, families, and underserved communities, with an emphasis on communities of color.
He has served on several Civic Service Committees - Los Angeles Convention Center, West Angeles Church of God and Christ, Western Regional VP International Rat Pack, Los Angeles Urban Bankers, and the Huntington Museum. He is a proud life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Mr. Finley is not only committed to educating youth, families, and underserved communities, he is a dedicated family man, and is the loving husband to Gwendolyn Finley, proud father of three adult children- Stewart, Cameron, and London, and doting grandfather to Whitney, Avery, and Hudson.
